Everything you need ahead of Championship weekend in Manchester

Tournament format

How the weekend plays out

You will play in team with your club members. It is possible that some players may need to join teams from other clubs to balance numbers. Where this is the case we will try to ensure everyone has at least one other player from their club in their team.

During day one, teams will earn points during their games to earn rankings on the tournament table. On day two, teams will play teams of similar rank to earn final placements and medals.

As we all know, times are particularly challenging for a specific part of our queer family. On Saturday 18th April we invite our trans and non-binary players to join forces for a one-off gender diverse match. Our pool will be your space to play the game you love.

Manchester Aquatics Centre

Your stage for the tournament

The Manchester Aquatics Centre, located at 2 Booth Street East, Manchester, M13 9SS, is a world-class aquatics facility. Originally built for the 2002 Commonwealth Games, and having undergone extensive redevelopment in 2022, it boasts two Olympic-sized 50m pools with moveable floors and a dedicated diving pool. There is also an on-site café for snacks and drinks.

Changing facilities are mixed-gender spaces. Lockers can be operated with a £1 coin. The pool is easily accessible by car, bus and cycle. There are many cafes, bars and shops nearby.

Neurodivergent quiet space

Space to decompress and recharge

We believe this may be a first for the Champagne League; a quiet room for neurodivergent players to step away from the pool and decompress in a supported environment. In this dedicated space, within the Manchester Aquatics Centre, you can listen to music, speak to other neurodiverse players or just sit in silence.

Need some time out?

Volunteers will be on hand to help you find the space and make sure you have what you need to feel comfortable.
